Sustainability Governance
Initiative description: Establishing clear roles, responsibilities and governance structures for sustainability, including at board level and for the Sustainability Steering Group, and ensuring that these are well-documented, implemented and reviewed.
This initiative revolves around establishing clear roles, responsibilities and governance structures for sustainability, at board level and for the Sustainability Steering Group, and ensuring that these are well-documented, implemented and reviewed.
The Sustainability Steering Group, made up of management representatives from key sustainability-related functions at FIFA, Q22 and the SC, is tasked with ensuring the successful delivery of the Sustainability Strategy. The Steering Group meets every six months to review progress and facilitate implementation in line with the tournament preparation schedule.
The SC’s long-established sustainability function coordinates the implementation of the Sustainability Strategy for tournament-related activities led by the host country, while the Q22 sustainability function coordinates the overall strategy and policy implementation to ensure full integration into tournament operations.
