Educators’ toolkit (Tamreen)
Initiative description: Providing a free educators’ toolkit, with resources that teachers, parents and coaches can use to complement any educational curriculum for young people with material related to the preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022™. The toolkit covers a diverse range of topics from public transport to the importance of healthy lifestyles, and building football stadiums to promoting sustainability.
Tamreen - which is Arabic for “exercise” - is an online educational programme available to all schools in Qatar that provides resources for teachers, parents and coaches, focusing on the tournament’s plans and preparations. Launched in March 2019, the programme uses the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ as a backdrop for developing core educational skills in areas such as mathematics, science, geography, art, Arabic, English, and citizenship.
Tamreen toolkits are available through an interactive website that includes games, videos and infographics, designed specifically with young people in mind. The toolkit, which has 22 different elements, covers areas such as aspects of stadium design, innovative cooling technologies, and an exploration of workers’ rights in Qatar. At the end of 2020, a total of 5,102 users were registered on Tamreen. An additional eight toolkits are planned for release in 2021, including accessible toolkits with various resources such as competitions, films and games to engage students during the lessons.
