Volunteer capacity building programme
Initiative description: Implementing a programme in partnership with tournament organisers and local volunteer centres to develop and nurture a pool of diverse, talented and well-trained volunteers. The programme will provide local volunteers with first aid, customer service, cultural awareness, diversity, disability, and sector-specific certified training (delivered by industry specialists) in addition to invaluable on-the-ground volunteering experience at football, sporting, and cultural events in Qatar.

Volunteers play a vital role in the build-up to and delivery of the FIFA World Cup™. The SC Volunteer Programme, launched in 2018, has enabled volunteers to gain experience and develop their skills during various football tournaments held in Qatar.
Since the volunteering programme's inception, the SC has received more than 380,000 registrations from individuals representing more than 165 nationalities. To date, the programme has deployed more than 10,000 volunteers at more than 20 events, including 1,450 volunteers supporting the Arabian Gulf Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019™ as well as 1,500 volunteers from Qatar supporting the FIFA Club World Cup 2020™ and 5,000 volunteers supporting the FIFA Arab Cup 2021™. Volunteers have had the opportunity to support different functions, getting hands on experience in areas such as media, branding, fan engagement, sustainability, accreditation, medical services and ticketing.
With the same goal, FIFA has launched a new global volunteer programme, called FIFA Volunteer, aimed at harnessing the passion for and interest in football worldwide. The FIFA Club World Cup 2020™ was the first time the new FIFA Volunteer brand - the heart - was showcased at an event. The FIFA Volunteer programme provides a single platform for those interested in volunteering at FIFA tournaments and events. Anyone aged over 18 can register, apply, and receive updates about volunteering at upcoming FIFA events.
