Sustainable building training
Initiative description: Delivering sustainable building training and facilitating knowledge-sharing for professionals involved in delivering FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ stadiums, training sites and overlay infrastructure construction and operation management, including FIFA, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC and Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy staff, contractors and facility management companies.
Sharing sustainability best practices among architects, engineers, facility managers and other specialists has improved the design, construction methods and operational efficiency of stadiums and other official sites. These individuals are now contributing their skills and expertise to projects elsewhere in Qatar and beyond.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) led the training and support that were identified as essential to the delivery of the ambitious sustainable building programme. This included hosting 14 knowledge-sharing events for contractors, designers, managers and consultants engaged in stadium development. Full and half-day sessions were hosted at stadium sites and conference centres, which included construction site tours, followed by workshops on best practices, challenges and solutions.
The SC has also supported training sessions on sustainability certification systems applicable to the building industry, including: Energy Assessment, GSAS Design & Build, GSAS Construction Management and GSAS Operations.
The success of the training is evidenced by progressive improvement in stadium sustainability certification scores beyond their certification targets (as detailed on the sustainable buildings and offices web page of this report).
