Inclusivity

Community events project

Community events with participating national teams

The community events project came to life shortly before the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. While this initiative was not originally part of the tournament’s Sustainability Strategy, the tournament organisers recognised the opportunity to bring together some of the participating national teams with local community groups to create awareness of key sustainability topics. A series of events were subsequently organised, uniting these diverse groups through activities that championed cultural exchange, promoted youth empowerment, and celebrated inclusivity.

19 of the 32 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ qualifying teams took part in community events, ranging from Arabic calligraphy and football art with local artists, to sharing football skills with local youth, workers, volunteers and amateur female footballers.
